he Yungang Grottoes are a stunning collection of ancient Buddhist cave temples, it is one of China's Four Great Grottoes. Our guide will take you on a journey to explore over 50,000 statues and carvings, showcasing the impressive artistry and spirituality of the Tang Dynasty. These grottoes are significant for their cultural and historical value, representing one of China’s four major Buddhist sculptural sites. Day 2
Huayan Temple or Shanhua Temple

This is one of two options you can pick for your second day activity. Our guide will take you on a journey through Huayan Temple's rich history and serene beauty. We’ll start at the Upper Temple, where you’ll marvel at the grand Mahavira Hall, one of the largest preserved wooden structures in China. We will also visit the Thousand Buddha Hall, adorned with carvings that tell fascinating Buddhist tales. Next, we’ll explore the Lower Temple, featuring tranquil courtyards and the Sutra Library, home to an impressive collection of ancient scriptures and artifacts. This is the perfect spot to immerse yourself in Buddhist philosophy and history. One highlight of our visit will be the panoramic view from the temple grounds, with Datong’s cityscape serving as a beautiful backdrop. We will head back to Beijing around 4pm in the afternoon.

This is one of the two options you can pick for the day. Shanhua Temple is also featured in the popular video game "Black Myth:Wukong." Let your private guide take you through the Shanhua Temple, a serene gem in Datong rich in history and art! First we will explore the Main Hall, a stunning Liao Dynasty wooden structure with exquisite Buddha statues and murals. Next, we’ll visit the Three Saints Hall, home to intricate sculptures of Manjushri, Samantabhadra, and Guanyin. We will take time to stroll through the peaceful courtyards and learn how this temple has stood for over a thousand years, surviving wars and preserving its spiritual and cultural heritage. Enjoy the tranquil atmosphere, capture beautiful photos, and soak in the harmony of this sacred space—a must-see for history and culture lovers! We will head back to Beijing around 4pm in the afternoon.
