Arrive at Jinka Airport (JKA). Transfer to your accommodation in Jinka and Prepare for a drive to Turmi, the heart of Hamer territory. This drive offers stunning views of the Omo Valley landscape
Our adventure begins with a visit to the Karo people, renowned for their vibrant body adornments and hairstyles. Witness their distinctive style and learn about their rich heritage. We continue to meet the Nyangatom, another fascinating pastoral tribe known for their warrior culture. The day concludes with an exploration of Hamer villages, witnessing their unique way of life, which may include the opportunity to observe the famed "bull-jumping" ceremony (seasonal / subject to availability). Overnight stay in Turmi at a hotel.
Today, we venture into Mago National Park to visit a Mursi village. Observe (respectfully and responsibly) their distinctive body modifications, understanding their cultural significance within their traditions. Returning to Jinka, you have a choice: delve deeper into the region's tribal cultures at the South Omo Museum & Research Center, or embark on a scenic hike and discover a local Ari village. Our final day begins with a drive to Dimeka, experiencing the bustling market (Tuesdays & Saturdays) where the Hamer, Benna, and Karo tribes gather. Immerse yourself in the vibrant colors and energy of this important trading center.
We'll then travel to Omorate to visit the Dassanech tribe, crossing the Omo River by boat. Finally, we return to Turmi. If your visit coincides with a Hamer "bull-jumping" ceremony, you'll have the incredible opportunity to witness this traditional rite of passage.
Afterwards, you will transfer to Jinka Airport for your departure
