What to expect

Shirodhara is an ancient Ayurvedic therapy that involves pouring of a gentle, steady stream of warm medicated oil or herb infused milk onto the forehead center or ‘third eye’ area. The word Shirodhara is derived from two Sanskrit words - ‘Shiro,’ which means ‘head’, and ‘Dhara’, which means ‘flow.’ The continuous flow of warm oil on the forehead aims to create a deep sense of relaxation, calms the restless mind and activates the ‘third eye’ so as to promote mental clarity, grounding and spiritual awareness.

Shirodhara is often referred to as ‘bliss therapy’ because of the profound effect it has upon inner consciousness. The very purpose of this therapy is to reduce stress and induces a tranquil and calm state of mind, naturally. Shirodhara has been used to help relieve insomnia, anxieties, fears, stress headaches, and other nervous system disorders. Guests normally experience a deep relaxation during the treatment and reduced ‘flight or fight’ response to stress triggers.
