In the Alai Valley, the minimum altitude begins at 2,500 meters above sea level and quickly rises higher. Due to the altitude, we recommend this hike for people in moderate physical condition with no altitude-related health problems. The route includes two challenging passes, Sary-Mogol Pass (4,280 m) and Jiptik Pass (4,185 m), with daily treks of 5–6 hours (active walking)
Acclimatization:
It is recommended to acclimatize to the altitude in advance, as the round hiking route starts from the Sary-Mogol Pass (4280 m), and the trail to the pass rises to an altitude of 900 meters.

Today we continue our trekking in north range of Allay valley (Trans-Alay). From Sary-Mogol to trailhead we go by car (1h) then trekking starts it is going to be bit taught trek because we go up to the pass called Sary-Mogol pass (4270 meters) and Besh-Kol lake. Our daily route takes for 6-8 hours of walking up in rocky path. At the top of the pass we enjoy the stunning scenery of Besh-Kol lakes. Then keeping the way to other side until the yurt camp. Approximate trekking distance: 14km, 8.70 miles Time of hiking: excluding driving 14km 6hours Ascent/Descent: 910/790 meters Highest and lowest points: 4270/3380 meters Accommodation altitude: 3382.00 Meters | 11095.80 Feet Connection: No electricity, internet and signal (power bank is recommended) Despite the lack of roads, local families Orozgul and her daughter Aigul set up yurts for overnight stays (shared living) with flush toilet to make travelers more comfortable as they did not have to carry a lot of things.
Sary-Mogol Pass: A Stunning Mountain Adventure The Sary-Mogol Pass, situated in the Kichik Alay Range, is one of the most popular and breathtaking mountain passes in the region, standing at an altitude of 4,280 meters. The scenery here is truly awe-inspiring. When you reach the top of the pass, you’ll feel an immense sense of accomplishment and strength. Below, you’ll witness the incredible sight of the Besh-Kol Lakes—a cluster of three pristine, rocky lakes. These lakes are interconnected by streams that eventually disappear into a mysterious cave. The untouched wilderness of Besh-Kol offers a unique experience, with a chance to spot wild yaks and indigenous mountain goats for those lucky enough. The area is a haven for nature lovers and adventurers alike, promising an unforgettable journey
Head east following the river and slightly descending to the end of the beautiful mountain gorge. Enjoy grandiose views of the Kichik Alay or Trans Alay mountain range, at first we cross a small village under Sary-Mogol further direction of travel turns to the right on the dirty auto road after 2-3 hours we reach a small village Kyzyl-Chara and stop here for lunch in home stay or at a cafes on the way, then forward go on to yurt camp in Koshmoinok. Kosh-Moynok Gorge Your second overnight stay will be in the Kosh-Moynok Gorge, a stunning summer pasture cherished by the inhabitants of Kichik-Alai. The name "Kosh-Moynok" translates to "a pair of mountain passes" and perfectly describes its location between the two gorges of Kosh-Moynok and Sary-Bel, at an altitude of 2,820 meters above sea level. A pristine mountain river flows through this pasture, originating from the glaciers of the Alai Mountains. The serene surroundings of Kosh-Moynok make it feel like a paradise for summer vacationers, offering an idyllic spot for rest and relaxation. This picturesque location is conveniently along your route and perfectly suited for an overnight stay.
We will begin next day of the trek on the slopes of the beautiful Cretaceous mountains of Kichik-Alay, straightaway we cross the pass of Sary-Bel (3150m)walking via Oy-Tal for a more short and enjoyable trek, After descending to Kojo-Kelen, we’ll take a short break at a local home to enjoy a refreshing shower and tea, providing a chance to relax and recharge. Following this, our local driver will transfer (because of long way) you to a yurt camp located near the base of Jiptik Pass—offering a well-explored and thoughtfully planned option for your journey. The village of Kozho-Kelen stretches over 6 kilometers, nestled in two canyons along the Sharpyldak and Chal-Kuyruk rivers. Situated in the Kichik-Alay Range at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level, it is approximately 100 kilometers from Osh, accessible via the Osh-Papan Road. At the upper edge of the village, along the left bank of the river, lies a stunning natural pond inside rock cave and called the sacred Goluboi Grotto (Blue Grotto). This cave, set beneath a massive rock, is a place of cultural and spiritual significance. Not far from there, a delicate waterfall cascades from a cliff, adding to the village's charm 5days option: You can do 5 days with overnight stay in a local home in Kozho-Kelen for more explore the sights in the village. However, we offered a 4-day shorter trekking option in our program. Getting to Osh: For those preferring a less strenuous option, you can skip trekking through Zhiptyk Pass and travel by car directly from Kozho-Kelen to Osh.
After breakfast, the trek continued up to the top of the pass "Jiptik" and cross it until noon (4185 asl). If the sky is clear from the pass you can see a stunning view of the Pamir-Alay valley with Lenin Peak (7134). On the top you will have your lunch and photo shooting. After soaking in the stunning scenery, descend towards Darbaza-Tash traversing picturesque landscapes.
