The Tour begins in Sallins, where trade on the Grand Canal first began when passenger and cargo barges started hauling their horse drawn loads between the small Kildare village and Dublin in 1780. Today Sallins is a bustling inland harbour village with 4 award winning restaurants & bars on the waterfront, and an array of boats, barges, houseboats and a brewery.

From Malt to Vault Exhibition at the Ardclough Visitors Centre. The Arthur Guinness Grave Museum & exhibition uses a combination of display boards, touchscreen interactive displays and a short video of the nearby Oughterard Graveyard where Arthur Guinness is buried in the family vault. From Malt to Vault at the Arthur’s Grave Centre brings to life a spectacular story how a teenage entrepreneur, whose grandfather sold beer from an ass cart, founded the world’s most recognisable brewing brand.
