After that, drive to Pashupatinath Temple, one of the most sacred Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. You can observe traditional rituals and experience deep spiritual energy along the Bagmati River.
Finally, visit Boudhanath Stupa, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. As you walk around the peaceful stupa with prayer wheels spinning and monks chanting, you will feel calm and connected. Today is the exciting beginning of your trekking journey into the Everest region. Early in the morning, you will take a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu or Manthali Airport (used during peak trekking seasons) or from Tribhuvan International Airport to Tenzing–Hillary Airport, Lukla. This short but thrilling flight offers breathtaking views of hills, rivers, and the Himalayan landscape. Morning flights are preferred because the weather is usually clearer and more stable.
After you come to Lukla, you will meet your trekking crew, take a short rest, and begin your first trekking day. The trail descends gently towards Phakding, following the beautiful Dudh Koshi River. You will cross several exciting suspension bridges and walk through charming Sherpa villages decorated with prayer flags, mani stones, and small chortens. Along the way, you may also catch your first views of distant Himalayan peaks like Karyolung, Nupla, and Gongla, making the journey even more special. There will be plenty of breaks for tea, lunch, and rest as you enjoy the peaceful mountain environment. By late afternoon, you will reach Phakding (2,650m), a quiet riverside village where you will spend your first night in the Everest region.
After breakfast in Phakding, your journey continues deeper into the Everest region as you head towards the famous Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar. The trail follows the beautiful Dudh Koshi River, where you will cross several long suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags. Each bridge crossing makes the journey more exciting and memorable. As you trek higher, the landscape changes. You will walk through lush green forests filled with rhododendron, fir, and magnolia trees. The sound of the river, fresh mountain air, and peaceful surroundings make this section of the trek truly special. After a steady uphill climb, you will finally reach Namche Bazaar, the main trading hub of the Everest region and home of the Sherpa community. Once you arrive, you can explore the lively streets of Namche, visit small monasteries, interact with locals, and enjoy cafés and bakeries in the mountain town. It is a great place to relax, take photos, and feel the unique mountain culture.
At this altitude, your body needs time to adapt to thinner air, so instead of staying idle, you will take light hikes around Namche to help with proper acclimatization and reduce the risk of altitude sickness. After breakfast, you may hike up to the famous Everest View Hotel, one of the highest luxury viewpoints in the world. From here, you can enjoy your first close panoramic views of Mount Everest and surrounding peaks (weather permitting). On the way, you can also explore local highlights such as the area around Syangboche Airport and visit the surroundings of the Khunde Hospital, which was established by Sir Edmund Hillary to support the local Sherpa community. You will also have time to explore Namche itself—walk through the vibrant market, visit small cafés, interact with locals, or simply enjoy the mountain atmosphere.
After leaving Namche Bazaar, the trail follows ridges and forests with stunning Himalayan views. The path has gentle ups and downs, with the Dudh Koshi valley far below and snow-covered peaks all around. You walk through peaceful forests of rhododendron and pine as you head towards the spiritual heart of the region. You then reach Tengboche Monastery (3,860m), one of the most important monasteries in the Everest region, beautifully set on a hilltop. From here, enjoy amazing views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest on clear days. The sound of chanting monks and fluttering prayer flags creates a calm, spiritual feeling. Inside the monastery, you can see traditional Buddhist art, wall hangings, sacred instruments, and the daily life of the Lamas, along with a large Buddha statue. After visiting Tengboche, a short descent takes you to the quiet village of Debuche (3,720m) for an overnight stay in a peaceful teahouse surrounded by nature.
After leaving Debuche, the trail leads deeper into the Himalayas. You cross the Imja Khola River on suspension bridges and slowly enter a wide alpine landscape. As you gain altitude, green forests fade and turn into a dry high-altitude desert with open valleys and rugged mountain views. This unique area is home to hardy plants and wildlife adapted to harsh conditions. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of Ama Dablam and the massive Lhotse in the distance. The changing light on these peaks makes the journey perfect for photography. The trail feels peaceful and open, giving a true sense of entering the heart of the Himalayas. By afternoon, you reach Dingboche, a popular high-altitude village with stone-walled fields, small cafés, and traditional Sherpa homes, offering a warm and comfortable stop.
Today is an important rest and acclimatization day in Dingboche, helping your body adjust to the higher altitude before continuing the trek. Instead of a full rest, you will take short hikes to improve oxygen adaptation and stay active. The most recommended option is a hike to Nangkartshang Peak (Nagarjun Hill) (5,080m), which offers one of the best viewpoints in the Everest region. From the top, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Ama Dablam, Makalu, Lhotse, and the wide Imja Valley below. It is a perfect place for photography and to experience the true beauty of the Himalayas. This hike is optional, so you can choose based on your energy and comfort level. Even staying in Dingboche and walking around the village helps with acclimatization and recovery. Spending a second night here is very important, as it allows your body to slowly adjust and reduces the risk of altitude sickness for the next stages of the trek. In the afternoon, you can relax in a teahouse, enjoy warm
Today’s journey takes you deeper into the Everest region towards Lobuche, a small high-altitude settlement surrounded by dramatic Himalayan scenery. The trail climbs above the tree line and follows the edge of the Khumbu Glacier, offering raw mountain views. The air becomes colder and thinner, so warm layered clothing is essential. Along the way, you see iconic peaks like Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Pumori, Kantega, and Thamserku forming a breathtaking panorama. The path is rocky and open with strong winds, giving a real high-altitude trekking experience. In monsoon season, you may also pass temporary yak herder shelters in alpine pastures. You stop for lunch at Thukla, then climb to the emotional Sherpa Memorial dedicated to climbers and Sherpas who lost their lives in the mountains. After this meaningful stop, you continue to Lobuche by late afternoon.
Today is the most important and exciting day of your Everest journey. The trail is rocky and challenging, with ice formations, moraines, and stunning views of surrounding peaks.
From Gorak Shep, you continue your final push towards Everest Base Camp (5,364m). Walking across the glacier area, surrounded by towering ice walls and crevasses, is a powerful Himalayan experience. After spending time at Base Camp, you trek back to Gorak Shep, where you will rest and celebrate your achievement with your team.
Today begins very early, around 4:00 AM, for a sunrise hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m) — the highest point of your trek. The climb is steep but rewarding. From the top, you get the best and closest panoramic view of Mount Everest, standing directly in front of you. You can also see Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, and many other Himalayan giants glowing in the morning light. This is the best place for Everest photography and unforgettable memories.
After enjoying the sunrise, you descend back to Gorak Shep for breakfast, the highest-altitude breakfast of your journey. Then you begin a long descent to Pheriche (4,280m), where the air feels richer and walking becomes easier as you lose altitude. By afternoon, you reach the peaceful village of Pheriche and rest after an incredible achievement.
After breakfast, you begin your long descent back towards Namche Bazaar, retracing familiar trails through the Everest region. The route passes through traditional Sherpa villages like Pangboche and the beautiful monastery village of Tengboche Monastery. Along the way, you cross suspension bridges again and walk through peaceful forests of rhododendron and pine. As you descend, the landscape slowly becomes greener and warmer, and the air feels richer. You pass mani stones, chortens, and prayer flags that line the trail, adding cultural beauty to the journey. The familiar views of surrounding Himalayan peaks accompany you as you make your way down the valley. By late afternoon, you arrive back in Namche Bazaar, where you can relax, enjoy comfortable food, and rest after a long day of trekking.
