Discover the authentic sounds of the "Koto", Japanese traditional stringed instrument!
Come join to my class. Anyone, even a complete beginner, can enjoy playing beautiful sounds.

When you join this class, you won't just play the ”Koto"; you'll also feel Japanese history and culture.

I am qualified to teach Koto.
Odawara, a historic castle town, is my hometown.
I created this experience activity because I want to share the joy of experience traditional Japanese music right here in this historic city.

・Approx. 14-minutes' walk from the East Exit of Odawara Station ・From Odawara Station, take a Hakone Tozan Bus (bound for Hakone), get off at Saiwai-cho Bus Stop and walk for 1 minute

This activity ends back at the meeting point.

What to expect

You will learn about history and basic information of a Koto.
Then you have lesson how to play it.
And you can also enjoy performance by the instructor and have a photo session.

  • Public transportation options are available nearby
  • Infants are required to sit on an adult’s lap
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • You will take off shoes when you enter the place for the music lesson
  • During the activity, you will have Japanese style sitting posture "seiza". If you are not comfortable it, let me know. I prepare chairs.
