What to expect

Discover Portuguese gastronomy — and a big part of our culture — on this hands-on cooking experience that starts at a local Lisbon market. We meet at Lisbon Cooking Academy and walk together (about 8 minutes) to the neighbourhood market to choose fresh, seasonal ingredients for our lunch. Along the way our chef talks you through the richness and diversity of Portuguese products and their role in local cooking. Back at the academy, you'll cook a three-course Portuguese lunch with the guidance of our professional chefs in a fun, relaxed, hands-on setting. The menu changes with what's freshest at the market and the group's preferences, but you can always count on a starter, a main course and a dessert. We share all the tips and secrets behind the recipes as we go, and at the end we sit down together to enjoy the meal we cooked, paired with Portuguese red and white wine or soft drinks. Wine and snacks are available throughout — some say the best way to cook is with a glass of wine in your hand. Small groups, great food and a real taste of how the Portuguese eat.
