A 4-day tour that will take you through the most impressive places Transylvania has to offer and will leave you wanting for more. Our guides are experts in Transylvanian history and culture and will tell you the story of this fantastic region that many want to know and understand.
You'll be picked up from Budapest Airport or from any address in Budapest or the surrounding area.
Our first stop will be at Corvin Castle, probably the most amazing gothic castle in Eastern Europe where we'll be talking about the history of Transylvania and who built this beautiful fort.
Next we will be visiting the place where the unification of Romania was signed back in 1918, Alba Iulia. The Old Town is simply stunning, as it is basically within a star shaped fortress so there so much to discover!
Turda Salt Mine will simply leave you speechless. One of the most amazing underground places in Europe is right here in the heart of Transylvania where we'll be 120m underground ( 360 feet ). Don't worry, it's a huge space and you won't feel claustrophobic
Sighisoara will surely amaze you with its beautiful colorful houses and with its interesting history. We'll explore the Old Town and get to see one of the last inhabited medieval forts in Europe.
After exploring Sighisoara we will stop to visit another UNESCO site in Viscri, the place where King Charles of England has a house and comes to visit every year. Here we will discover the fortified church inside and out and get the change to go up the main tower!
Before hitting the hay we will be doing a walking tour of Brasov's Old Town which many consider to be one of the most impressive in Transylvania. During the tour we'll get to visit the Black Church, the largest gothic church in Romania.
Early in the morning before the crowds come we will go see Dracula's castle, the most famous tourist spot in Romania! We'll see who built it and why and talk about Bram Stoker's novel who made this spot so popular!
One of the least know but truly interesting places in Romania is Carta Abbey. The easternmost Cistercian abbey in the Europe is a must while driving from Brasov to Sibiu.
Sibiu is a must when visiting Transylvania. We will be exploring its old town and walk up the council tower for the best view of the main square and of the surrounding area.
On our last day we will be exploring the Old Town of Timisoara, European Capital of Culture in 2023 and learn about what happened in 1989 as this is the place where the revolution against the communist regime started!
Drive back to Budapest or Budapest Airport.
