The original elephant section of the park was proclaimed in 1931, when only eleven elephants remained in the area. Today this ecosystem is home to one of the densest elephant populations on earth, with over 700 elephant, lion, buffalo, the endangered black rhino, spotted hyena, leopard, a variety of antelope and zebra species, as well as the unique Addo flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo. The park can exclusively claim to be the only park in the world to conserve the “Big 7” – the Big 5 as well as the southern right whale and great white shark of the coast .

Explore Addo Elephant National Park with a guide for an educational, malaria-free experience. This family-friendly tour takes place in a closed vehicle as it gets dusty in the park. Perfect for families with small children. Traveling with a guide means you'll get the best chance of spotting Africa's Big 5 along the rough paths of the part. Less than an hour from Port Elizabeth, Addo Elephant National Park is home to many herds of elephants, the endangered black rhino, plus lions, hyenas, zebras, and more. This tour is Great Value for money. We take the shortest route into the park, travelling from the south through the park to the north to maximize your time in the park and get to see most of the wildlife. You will be picked up at the harbor or any other pick-up point in the city and will be brought back in good time for your departure. With a lovely restaurant on site you can enjoy a cold beer and nice lunch as well if time is available.
