Two hours that put the two halves of Venice together: the streets and the water. On foot, a local guide takes you from the Rialto Bridge into a courtyard at the end of a blind alley, where the Scala Contarini del Bovolo spirals up in open arches — half Gothic, half Renaissance, and missed by almost everyone. From there the walk works through Campo Sant'Angelo to La Fenice, the opera house that burned down three times and was rebuilt three times. Then you get into a gondola for thirty minutes, through the narrow canals and out onto the Grand Canal, and see the same city from the water.
Meet at the ALILAGUNA ticket counter at Piazza San Marco Giardinetti, in front of Illy Caffe. Arrive 20 minutes before departure and show your voucher at the counter to receive your tickets.
The walk starts at the Rialto Bridge, the oldest of the four crossings of the Grand Canal and for centuries the only way over it on foot.
A spiral staircase hidden at the end of a narrow alley, wrapped in arches — one of the strangest pieces of Venetian architecture, caught between Gothic and Renaissance.
The tour passes the Teatro La Fenice, Venice’s opera house, burned down and rebuilt three times — seen from the outside, with the story told by your guide.
The walk ends with a 30-minute shared gondola ride through the narrow side canals and out onto the Grand Canal.
