On arrival at the majestic fortress of Valença do Minho, visitors will be led to a brief historical introduction on this impressive example of Portuguese military architecture of the 17th and 18th centuries. Then you have 45 minutes of free time to explore the interior of the fortress at your own pace, where you can: Walk through the walls with stunning panoramic views over the river Minho and Galicia; Discover paved streets full of charm, with well preserved historic buildings; Visit traditional craft shops, textiles and local products typical of Alto Minho; Enjoy regional gastronomy in small cafes or taste typical sweets; Explore churches and chapels within the walls, such as St. Stephen's Church; Or simply relax and take photos at one of the most iconic points of northern Portugal.

The experience begins with a visit to the imposing Palácio da Brejoeira, a jewel of the 19th-century Portuguese neoclassicism, located in the outskirts of Monção, in the heart of Alto Minho. Upon arrival, visitors will be welcomed for a guided tour of the interior of the palace, where they can admire: The noble salons decorated with season furniture and original frescoes; The private chapel and the elegant hallways that reveal the history of the minhota aristocracy; The stunning library, full of rare works; And the romantic gardens surrounding the property, perfect for a little walk.
