Breakfast at the hotel. Discover Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. First, we will visit the big national history museum. 1.5-hours guided tour there. Then, we continue to the city center for 2-hours guided walking city tour, which includes all of the major sites: Saint Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Saint Sofia Basilica, the Parliament, the old Royal Residence, the national Theater, the Largo complex, the Roman remains, the old baths, the court. Breakfast at the hotel. Day trip to Rila Monastery and Boyana Church – UNESCO heritage sites. The first stop will be at the Boyana church, famous for its amazing frescoes, dating back to 1259 – a unique example of the Bulgarian renaissance. The church is rather small and it is allowed to be entered only for 10 minutes inside. The rest of the visit will be outside.
Next, we continue to the Rila Moanstery - the biggest and most famous Bulgarian one. It is about 2 hours drive from Sofia. There, we will have about 1-hour guided tour in the monastery and in its history museum. After that, 2 hours free time for photos, to check the souvenir shops and to have a lunch break in a restaurant near the monastery. The expected return in Sofia is at 18:00.
Breakfast at the hotel and hotel check – out. Departure to the Rhodope Mountain. First stop will be the Asen`s fortress, remarkable with its panoramic mountain views.
Then, we continue to the Bachkovo Monastery – the second biggest in Bulgaria. After the visit, free time for lunch in a restaurant near the monastery.
Finally, we go to Plovdiv – the oldest existing town in Europe and European capital of culture for 2019! 2-hours guided tour there, including the old town, the Nebet hill fortress remains, the Roman theater, the Roman stadium and forum, the main walking street (the longest pedestrian in Europe!). Hotel accommodation, free time and overnight stay.

Departure to the revival village of Koprivshtitsa, known for its 19th century architecture, as well as with the Bulgarian national uprising against the Ottoman rule in 1876. 2-hours guided tour, with a visit of its house-museums, some of which were the birthplaces of major Bulgarian revolutionaries. Then, free time for lunch. After that departure to Sofia. The approximate return in Sofia will be at 18:00 Hotel accommodation, free time and overnight stay.
