In ancient times, the city was the center of the region of Sintika, inhabited by the Thracian tribe Sinti. Since 2007, archaeological excavations have been taking place at Heraclea Sintica. Discover strange structures above it, including tunnels and an arch. Learn about the geosonar examination by Russian specialists that revealed a large studio for producing ceramic masks for an unknown and as yet unrevealed ancient theatre. Walk among the ruins of this once-thriving ancient city, explore its well-preserved streets, and learn fascinating stories about life during the Hellenistic and Roman periods.
