    Acatenango, La Soledad

Your journey begins with a comfortable 45–60 minute shared minibus ride from our office to La Soledad, followed by an ascent to basecamp via a shorter route used by only a few selected agencies. By avoiding the most demanding section of the mountain, the hike becomes more scenic, more enjoyable, and far less exhausting, allowing you to arrive at camp with more energy to fully enjoy the experience. This also makes it a great option for guests who want to add the Fuego hike in the afternoon, one of the most dramatic highlights of the adventure. Upon arrival at basecamp, each group must provide 1 liter of water to the guide for the preparation of warm drinks. In the evening, relax by the fire with hot chocolate, enjoy a hearty dinner, and rest in our new cabins for up to 6 guests, with sleeping bags and glass doors facing the volcano. Our guides speak basic English; a bilingual guide is available at an additional cost. Wake up to fresh mountain air and unforgettable volcano views at dawn.

Experience the thrill of standing just 200 meters from Fuego Volcano’s eruptions on this adventurous 3.5-hour round trip! At an altitude of 3,768 meters (12,362 feet), this hike offers a safe yet awe-inspiring vantage point to witness one of Guatemala’s most active volcanoes. Departing at 4 PM, the hike requires intermediate fitness and takes you to the volcano, where you’ll spend 30 minutes watching the eruptions up close. Participants must come prepared with water, a jacket, and a headlamp, as this is a difficult hike. For safety reasons, travelers are not allowed to approach Fuego alone—doing so will immediately end the trip to ensure everyone’s well-being. The price is Q300 per person and Q700 for solo travelers. Join us for an unforgettable adventure!

    Acatenango Sunrise / Summit

    1 stop
  • 4
    Turistico Volcan Acatenango

Wake up at 4:00 AM for the optional summit hike and, weather permitting, experience a breathtaking sunrise over the volcanic landscape. The summit visit usually includes around 45 minutes to take in the views before descending back to basecamp for a hot breakfast. After breakfast, the group begins the descent to La Soledad, with return to Antigua around 12:00 PM. Please note that summit access always depends on weather and safety conditions, so in some cases we may not go up. Because this is a collective tour, at least half of the group must agree to do the summit hike in order for it to take place. We are not able to change this policy for individual guests. If you would like to go to the summit regardless of how many other guests join, a private guide can be arranged for an additional Q700.
