    Wollman Rink

    This public ice rink was proposed in 1946 and opened in 1950. Kate Wollman, a philanthropist, donated approximately six hundred thousand dollars for the construction of the rink.

    Strawberry Fields is a memorial dedicated to John Lennon (1940 - 1980) on what would have been his 45th birthday, October 9th 1985. The memorial is a mosaic with the word “Imagine” written on it, an homage to Lennon’s song. The name Strawberry Fields comes from the Beatles song “Strawberry Fields Forever.”
