Journey through the surreal landscapes of southwestern Bolivia on a captivating three-day tour. Begin with an exploration of the train cemetery and artisan village of Colchani before immersing yourself in the vast Salar de Uyuni, renowned for its unique salt flats and the iconic Hotel Playa Blanca. Witness the stunning sunrise at Ollague volcano, wander through vibrant lagoons filled with flamingos, and unwind at a family-run lodge in Huayllajara beneath a starry sky. The final day unveils bubbling fumaroles, natural hot springs, and the mesmerizing Laguna Verde, nestled at the foot of Licancabur volcano, culminating at the Chilean border with unforgettable memories.
Your guide will contact you 10 minutes before arriving at your hotel, located in the historic center.
We will pick up passengers at their respective hotels in Uyuni, then head to the train cemetery to see the old locomotives. Next, we will head to the community of Colchani (the gateway to the salt flats), where we will find rustic craft workshops and the micro-plant for processing rustic table salt. Continuing with the expedition to the majestic Salar de Uyuni, we will make stops to see salt extraction, the eyes of the salt flat, and the Sal Playa Blanca hotel, which currently only functions as a museum. Later, we will visit the most popular island in the salt flat, located in the middle of the salt flat, Incahuasi Island (not accessible during the rainy season), where we will take a walk and appreciate large expanses of cacti, marine rock fossils, and spectacular 360° views from the viewpoint. At the end of your tour, we will head to your salt accommodation to rest.
The day begins with breakfast at the salt lodge. We depart for the Ollague volcano viewpoint to appreciate the volcanic desert landscape and sparse high Andean vegetation. Then we visit Chiarkota Lagoon, Hedionda Lagoon (named for the smell of sulfur), Onda Lagoon, and Ramaditas Lagoon. These lagoons are surrounded by flamingos, which use them as feeding and resting places during their migratory movements. At midday, we enjoy lunch on the road. We continue your journey to the Siloli Desert, where we find the stone tree (a strange rock formation). We continue on your way to Laguna Colorada, which is very striking due to its reddish color. Continuing on, we arrive at the town of Huayllajara, where we will enjoy dinner and spend the night in a community family lodge (basic accommodation).
The day begins very early in the morning with breakfast and departure for the fumaroles and cracks in the earth where volcanic lava and sulfurous gases emerge. Continuing on the tour, we will arrive at the hot springs (waters beneficial for the treatment of arthritis) where you can take a bath and enjoy a restorative rest. The water has a temperature between 25 and 32 °C. We continue the journey through the second desert on your Salvador Dalí tour, which has an excellent panoramic view and resembles this desert landscape. Next, we will arrive at Laguna Verde (its high mineral content gives it its characteristic color), located at the foot of the Licancabur volcano (5,916 meters above sea level). Finally, we return to Uyuni.
