    Convento de Cristo

We started our adventure with Tomar, which is one of the most emblematic cities of the Templar presence in Portugal. Founded in 1160 by the Templar Knights under Gualdim Pais, the city became the seat of the Order in the country and one of the largest historical legacy. There we visit the Convent of Christ which is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. After the visit to the Convent, we ate lunch in a restaurant with medieval features, to intensify our experience of being submerged in this universe. After lunch, we visited the city for other Templar symbols.

On the return to Lisbon, we visit Almourol, which has a mythical castle, located on an island in the river Tagus. Originally there was a fortification that after its conquest by the Christians, D. Afonso Henriques handed over to Gualdim Pais who rebuilt it, becoming one of the most imposing Christian defensive fortifications against the Moors.
