The Ouzoud Waterfalls (Cascades d’Ouzoud) are one of Morocco’s most breathtaking natural attractions. Located about 150 km (93 miles) northeast of Marrakech in the Middle Atlas Mountains, these spectacular falls plunge over 110 meters (360 feet) into a lush, green canyon. Visitors are treated to dramatic views of the cascading water surrounded by olive groves, red cliffs, and rainbows created by the mist. It’s a popular spot to see Barbary macaques (wild monkeys), hike down the pathways to the base of the falls, or enjoy a traditional tajine at a riverside café. The name Ouzoud means “the act of grinding grain” in Berber, referring to the old mills in the area, some of which can still be seen today.
