We start our day in the car-free village of Mürren, surrounded by huge views over the Lauterbrunnen Valley and the famous peaks of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Once we start our hike, we quickly leave the main paths and head onto quieter trails and farmland.
One of the real highlights is the waterfall Sprutz, our favourite waterfall from the area. From there, we continue through peaceful forest trails down to the traditional mountain village of Gimmelwald.
We take a slow walk through the village before finishing the hike with a delicious outdoor raclette in the mountain surrounded by the most amazing scenery.
Once you go out from Lauterbrunnen train station, cross the street and we will meet outside the Lauterbrunnen-Grutschalp Gondola station
Located at the foot of the Schilthorn, this picturesque mountain village sits above the Lauterbrunnen Valley and is considered one of the most beautiful mountain villages in Switzerland. The area around the car-free village boasts excellent hiking and winter sports opportunities, impressive waterfalls and an incomparable view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. After walking for about 1.5 hours, we will arrive to Murren, and we will walk its tiny little streets, and admire the most amazing mountain views and its wooden chalets. We will make a small break and enjoy a delicious tea or hot chocolate before heading down to Gimmelwald.
Quiet. Traditional. Where there are more cows than people. Gimmelwald is a very unspoilt mountain farming village with around 100 inhabitants. They live here in close contact with nature and the animals. The village is characterised by chalets decorated with flowers in front of the four-thousand-metre-high Jungfrau mountain massif. The sound of cowbells is usually the only thing that "disturbs" the tranquil atmosphere. In Gimmelwald we will enjoy a delicious and traditional swiss fondue and will walk through this little village main street, before taking the gondola and bus back to Lauterbrunnen.
Lauterbrunnen lies at 795 metres above sea level in an impressive trough valley between gigantic rock faces and peaks. 72 waterfalls cascade over the rock faces into the valley. We will pass by with the bus through Lauterbrunnen main street and attractions.
A beautiful hidden waterfall located on the Schiltbach river between Mürren and Gimmelwald
