Each season, the enormously talented Horticulture and Engineering teams transform the 14,000-square-foot Botanical Gardens into a showcase of inspiring sights, sounds, scents and colors. Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter are all featured—along with a special display for Lunar New Year. When the seasons change so do the displays. The talented Conservatory team changes out the design and also replants and repurposes as much of the living plant material as possible, further celebrating Mother Nature and our commitment to sustainability.

Something you might see in Willy Wonka’s fictional chocolate factory is the glass-encased fountain at the Bellagio Patisserie, which contains about 2,100 pounds of flowing chocolate! The largest chocolate fountain in the United States! A chocolate lovers dream, this impressive free thing to do in Las Vegas stands at 27 feet tall and circulates melted chocolate through 500 feet of pipes 24 hours a day. You can watch in awe as dark, medium, and white chocolate flow down in a mesmerizing waterfall. It creates a delicious aroma that fills the air. The fountain is located next to the Bellagio Conservatory and Gardens, adding to the beauty and elegance of the resort.

Chihuly’s Fiori di Como at the Bellagio As someone who has seen a lot of Chihuly, in some very cool settings, I still find the ceiling at the Bellagio – officially named Fiori di Como – a damn jaw-dropper. Seriously, this thing is huge and bursting with color and just really freaking gorgeous. With more than 2,000 pieces of glass and at over 2,000 square feet, it is one of Chihuly’s biggest works. Not THE biggest, but one of them. Even if you don’t like Chihuly, I think it’s got to be pretty hard not to be impressed by this thing. I mean, a beautiful ceiling is a beautiful ceiling, and this is a beautiful ceiling.

The resort is themed after Venice and has replicas of numerous landmarks from the city, including a canal with gondola rides. The Venetian includes a 120,000 sq ft (11,000 m2) casino and opened with 3,036 suites in a 35-story tower. A 12-story tower, the Venezia, was completed in 2003, bringing the room count to 4,049. The Palazzo, a sister property with its own hotel and casino, opened north of the Venetian in 2007. If considered as a single property, the Venetian-Palazzo complex ranks as the second-largest hotel in the world, with approximately 7,100 rooms.

Construction on the Palazzo began in September 2004, and the resort began a phased opening on December 30, 2007. The $1.9 billion property features an Italian theme, and includes a 105,000 sq ft (9,800 m2) casino, 3,066 suites in a 50-story tower, the 875,000 sq ft (81,300 m2) Grand Canal Shoppes, and an 1,800-seat performance theater. The resort was designed as a green building by HKS Architects. In 2008, it earned Silver LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, becoming the largest LEED-certified building in the world. In September, 1980, Kevin Hillier took his new metal detector out for a spin in his tiny hometown of Wedderburn, Australia. Instead of a bottle cap or a paper clip, he found a 61-pound golden nugget barely a foot underground. Today, it makes its home in our lobby. The Hand of Faith is the biggest golden nugget in existence, the second-biggest ever discovered, and the biggest ever found with a metal detector. (And in case you’re wondering, Hillier made out just fine. He sold his golden nugget to the Golden Nugget for over a million dollars.)
