The Shikoku Pilgrimage is one of Japan’s most iconic pilgrimage routes, with a history spanning 1,200 years. One of its greatest attractions is the “walking pilgrimage,” which allows you to follow the ancient trails on foot while enjoying encounters with nature and the local people along the way.
On this tour, you’ll walk along the pilgrimage trail on Mount Godai, overlooking Kochi City, and make your way to Chikurin-ji Temple, the 31st temple on the pilgrimage route. It’s a wonderful way to experience the historic trail at a leisurely pace as part of a morning walk.
After visiting the temple, we’ll take a relaxed stroll through the nearby Makino Botanical Garden, also located on Mount Godai.
Your guide will be waiting for you at Harimaya Bridge (Harimayabashi), holding a board with the logo of "Kochi Escapes".
