Traveling with kids is wonderful — but exhausting. This is your chance to breathe.

While your little ones play Japanese festival games with a local child host, you focus on calligraphy and origami. Everyone is happy. Everyone is learning.

Choose a kanji that carries personal meaning for you — then write it yourself with a licensed teacher. This isn't just a craft class. It's a story you take home.

Rie's 11-year-old son teaches origami step by step. Your children may make a real Japanese friend. That cross-cultural connection doesn't happen anywhere else in Tokyo.

One private group only — a real family home in Hiroo, not a tourist shop.

What to expect

This exclusive workshop is designed for multi-generational families — grandparents, parents, and children — who want to enjoy Japanese culture together, at their own pace.

FOR THE ADULTS:
A licensed calligraphy teacher (Rie) will guide you in choosing a kanji character that carries personal meaning for you. You'll practice, then create your final piece on traditional shikishi paper — a real artwork to bring home.

FOR THE KIDS:
Rie's 11-year-old son teaches origami step by step. Younger children enjoy traditional Japanese festival games — yo-yo fishing, fukuwarai, sand art — supervised by a dedicated Japanese staff member.

THE MAGIC:
Local Japanese families and visiting families share the same space. Your kids connect with real Japanese children. That authentic exchange doesn't happen anywhere else in Tokyo.

Finish with an optional yukata fitting and photo session with your artwork. Please note: yukata availability is limited — it's a bonus, not guaranteed. Check our photos to see the style!

✅ Couples and adults without children are also warmly welcome.
