This day we are heading towards the Ararat Regionlocated near the border with Turkeymagical for its beautiful landscape dominated by the snow-capped Mount Ararat.Here is the closest and most spectacular view of the gorgeous biblical Mountain Ararat, upon which Noah’s Ark landed after the flood. In Ararart Plain in summer period you can also taste the sweet and incomparable fruit because the place is known also for its fertile soil and favorable climate, which make it an ideal location for growing a wide variety of fruits and vegetables. Some of the most commonly grown crops in the region include grapes, apricots, peaches, apples, pears, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants, and various types of melons. The produce from this area is often exported to other parts of Armenia and abroad, contributing to the country's economy. Here we will visitthe monastery of Khor Virap,a place particularly dear to Armenians.
Then we will continue towards Kotayk Regionto discover one of the wonders of the Hellenistic era, the fortress and the temple of Garni which is situated on the top of a well-protected triangular promontory, erected in 77 AD.
We will continue to visit the 13th century Ghegardavankthe only rock-carved monastery in Armenia. The name derives from the relic, of a fragment of the spear with which the side of Christ was pierced on the cross. After a full day of exploration return to Yerevan.
On the way to Yerevan stop an arch. The arch is dedicated to the famous Armenian poet YeghisheCharents, who loved and admired the beauty of Mount Ararat. The place was chosen accurately: from the arch, you will have the best view of Mount Ararat.
