The Dr. Franjo Tuđman Bridge in Dubrovnik, opened in 2002, is a vital infrastructure that connects Dubrovnik with the rest of Croatia, spanning the Ombla River at its mouth. This impressive bridge has significant historical value, as it improved connectivity and facilitated transportation to the southeastern parts of Croatia. Construction began in 1997, and it bridges the Dubrovnik region, which had been isolated until then. The bridge is part of an important transportation corridor and symbolizes the city’s recovery after the war. At 130 meters high and 518 meters long, the bridge offers spectacular views of Gruž Harbor, the western part of the city, the Lapad Peninsula, and part of the Elaphiti Islands. An additional attraction of the bridge is the opportunity for bungee jumping, making it a unique experience for adrenaline enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of nature, and the bridge is an unmissable destination for anyone traveling through Dubrovnik.
Source of the Ombla River – The Shortest River in the World! We stop at the source of the Ombla River, a natural wonder with a fascinating story! This karst spring feeds one of the shortest rivers in the world, stretching only 30 meters before merging with the Adriatic. Its powerful source originates from a vast underground karst system that extends deep beneath the Dubrovnik hinterland. Located just 5 km from Dubrovnik, Ombla captivates visitors with its crystal-clear waters and idyllic surroundings, framed by lush vegetation and centuries-old trees. Here, you can enjoy the refreshing touch of nature, admire the serene water, and capture stunning photographs. A perfect spot to take a break, soak in the beauty of the karst landscape, and create unforgettable memories. Get your cameras ready – nature’s magic awaits! From here you can see one of the oldest Catholic churches from the 11th century. It is the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Srđ Hill is the ultimate location for capturing the most breathtaking views of Dubrovnik. From this perfect vantage point, the red rooftops of the Old Town, the shimmering Adriatic Sea, and the distant Elaphiti Islands create the city’s most iconic and photographed scene. This is the best stop for taking postcard-worthy photos, offering a panoramic backdrop that highlights the beauty of Dubrovnik in a single frame. Whether admiring the view or capturing the perfect shot, Srđ Hill is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the city from its most stunning perspective
Located just above the city, the Cable Car Station on Mount Srđ offers an unforgettable ride with stunning panoramic views of Dubrovnik and the Adriatic. The station is just steps away from the historic Imperial Fortress, built by the French in 1810, which offers a fascinating insight into Dubrovnik's history. The fortress and cable car station are perfectly situated close to each other, allowing visitors to easily explore both attractions in one visit. From here, enjoy breathtaking views of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, the Elaphiti Islands, the Lapad Peninsula, and the beautiful coastline.
The spot behind the Imperial Fortress, on the way to the Strinčjera Fortress, is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Dubrovnik, known as the perfect location for watching the sunset. Located on the Srđ hill, this area offers a spectacular panoramic view of the old town of Dubrovnik, the Elaphite Islands and the endless blue of the Adriatic Sea. The sunset at this location is especially magical – the sun slowly sinks into the sea, illuminating Dubrovnik with golden and pink hues, while the city lights gradually turn on, creating a breathtaking scene. At this spot, we will stop and peacefully enjoy the sunset with a glass of Croatian wine.
