Begin your adventure with a morning pickup from your hotel in Ulaanbaatar and head west to toward the legendary ancient capital of Karakorum, founded by Genghis Khan in 1220. (350km) Visit the iconic Erdene Zuu Monastery, the oldest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. Walk through the temple grounds, admire the traditional Buddhist architecture, and learn about its centuries-old history and religious significance. Later, visit the monumental kings’ statues, which honor the great Mongol leaders. As evening falls, enjoy a warm traditional dinner at your ger guesthouse. The day ends in serene silence under Mongolia’s famously clear night sky, perfect for stargazing.
After the breakfast, we continue our exploration at the Karakorum Museum, where you’ll discover artifacts from the Great Mongol Empire in Silk Road era. Now we going to Elsen Tasarkhai, also known as the Semi-Gobi. This breathtaking region is part of the Mongol Els sand dunes, stretching 80 km in length and 5 km in width across Burd, Bulgan, and Gurvanbulag soums of Uvurkhangai Province. Marvel at the unique landscape where sand dunes meet steppe and mountains. Take a short hike and spot local wildlife such as birds, deer, and gazelles. Then, enjoy a camel or horse ride across the dunes for a true nomadic experience. Stop for a delicious traditional Mongolian lunch in a scenic spot along the way. In the afternoon, visit a local nomadic family and gain insight into their traditional lifestyle, daily routines, and centuries-old customs.
After breakfast, begin our return journey to Ulaanbaatar, driving approximately 240 km through Mongolia’s vast and changing landscapes. Upon arrival, you will be transferred directly to your accommodation in the city.
