Alexanderplatz is a central square in Berlin and an important transport hub. It is known for the TV Tower, the World Clock and numerous shops. It used to be a flagship socialist project of the GDR.
The Nikolaiviertel is the oldest residential district in Berlin, close to the Spree and Alexanderplatz. It was founded in the Middle Ages and reconstructed in the 1980s. Today it is a historic place with restaurants, alleys and the St. Nicholas Church.
Bebelplatz is a historic square in Berlin, known for the burning of books by the Nazis on 10 May 1933. Today, an underground memorial of empty bookshelves commemorates this. The square is located between the State Opera and Humboldt University.
