Experience the dramatic landscapes of Scotland’s West Highlands in a small, semi-private group—ensuring a more personal and relaxed day ashore. Unlike larger cruise excursions, this carefully curated tour lets you explore at a comfortable pace with fewer people and more flexibility.
Begin with a peaceful visit to the lochside village of Luss, where flower-filled cottages and scenic views offer a picture-perfect introduction to Highland charm. Soak in sweeping vistas from the famous Rest and Be Thankful viewpoint before continuing to the historic town of Inveraray. Here you’ll have time to explore the town, enjoy lunch at your leisure, and—if open—visit the grand Inveraray Castle, home to the Duke of Argyll.
End the day with a scenic ferry ride across the River Clyde, included in your tour, before returning to port. With expert local insight and a welcoming, small-group atmosphere, this is a truly memorable alternative to the typical cruise line excursion.
Your guide will greet passengers at the main entrance to the cruise terminal or pavilion. They will be standing holding a sign.
Your adventure ashore begins as we depart Greenock Cruise Terminal, heading into Scotland’s breathtaking West Highlands. Our first stop is the charming village of Luss on the shores of Loch Lomond. With its quaint cottages and stunning views across the loch, Luss is a perfect introduction to the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere of this iconic area. Take a stroll, soak up the scenery, and snap some photos of this historic spot.
Next, we’ll head to The Rest and Be Thankful viewpoint, a famous stop for travellers since the 18th century. Once a well-earned break for soldiers who made the steep climb, this spot now offers an unbeatable view of rolling hills and lush valleys. Take a moment here to breathe in the fresh Highland air and enjoy the stunning panorama.
Our journey continues to Inveraray, a picture-perfect town on Loch Fyne. Here, you’ll have time to explore Inveraray Castle (if it’s open), home to the Duke of Argyll and filled with fascinating history and gothic architecture. *Please Note* - The Castle is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On these days we suggest a visit to The Old Town Jail
Free time for you to enjoy your lunch and wander through the town, taking in its Georgian buildings and friendly Highland vibe. There a number of cafes to choose from in the Main Street in addition to the Tea Room at the Castle (when it's open)
We’ll finish the day with a scenic, 20-minute ferry ride across the river Clyde from Hunters Quay to Gourock - the cost of the ferry ride is included. With the stunning sights of the West Highlands and memories of Scotland’s natural beauty, we’ll make our way back to the cruise terminal, concluding your unforgettable day ashore with us.
