What to expect

During this experience, you’ll head out from La Paz to one of the few places in the world where it’s possible to safely swim with wild whale sharks—the largest fish on the planet. After meeting at Muelle Fiscal, your captain and certified guide will take you by boat to the authorized whale shark viewing zone, operating under SEMARNAT and CONANP regulations. As you approach the area, your guide will brief you on safety, swimming techniques, and how to interact respectfully with the animals. Once the authorities authorize entry, you’ll take turns entering the water in small groups (maximum 5 swimmers), following your guide as they position you for an unforgettable swim beside these gentle giants. You’ll have several opportunities to get in the water and observe them feeding calmly near the surface. Between water sessions, relax on the boat, enjoy the scenery of the Bay of La Paz, take photos, and learn about whale shark biology and local conservation work. When your authorized time in the area ends, your captain will return you to Muelle Fiscal, completing a responsible, fully guided marine adventure.
