Visit Yasukuni Shrine with Ginta the Shiba Inu.
Learn how Shintoism shaped Japanese culture and how shrine spaces are approached, including prayer etiquette and the meaning behind common rituals. Your guide explains the history of Yasukuni Shrine and provides cultural context to help you understand the site as you explore.
Along the route, you’ll see landmarks such as the large bronze Torii gate, statues within the grounds, and other areas that many visitors pass without understanding their significance. The walk also includes visiting a quieter garden area, which is great for photos.
After the shrine walk, visit a local café with Ginta. Guests can enjoy lunch, tea, or dessert, relax, and take photos in a calm, unhurried environment.
Please use Exit 1 of Kudanshita Station (Hanzomon Line, Tozai Line) located along Yasukuni Dori. There are multiple exits, so be sure to use Exit 1. A guide with a black Shiba Inu will be waiting for you.
Your guide meets you at Kudanshita Station, where you’ll be introduced to Ginta and given a brief overview of the walk and basic shrine etiquette before entering the grounds.
Walk through the shrine grounds at a relaxed pace while your guide explains the cultural background, history, and symbolism of the site. Key features such as the bronze Torii gate, statues, and quieter areas of the shrine are introduced along the way, with time for questions and photos.
Walk along a path lined with cherry blossom-shaped tiles made by artisans from across Japan. This peaceful spot is Ginta’s personal favorite for sniffing and relaxing.
This is Japan’s first Western-style statue, honoring a founder of the modern Japanese military. Strike a pose with Ginta in front of this iconic bronze monument.
Step into the shrine’s inner precinct and visit the Haiden (worship hall). Your guide will show you how to pay respects in traditional Japanese style.
Built in 1881 and relocated here in 1903, this stage hosts traditional Noh performances each spring. A must-see for fans of classical Japanese arts.
After the shrine walk, head to a nearby local café with Ginta. Guests may order lunch, tea, or dessert and enjoy a calm break before the tour concludes.
Return to Kudanshita Station with your guide and Ginta the Shiba Inu. Say goodbye to your fluffy walking companion after a memorable cultural journey together.
