Tacoma has one of the most fascinating stories in the Pacific Northwest, but most visitors never hear it. This small-group walking tour brings the city's past to life through engaging storytelling, local expertise, and visits to some of Tacoma's most important historic districts.
Beginning at the iconic Chihuly Bridge of Glass, you'll explore the Museum District, Foss Waterway, Brewery District, and Prairie Line Trail while uncovering the events that transformed Tacoma from an Indigenous homeland into the "City of Destiny."
Along the way, you'll hear stories of railroads, industry, immigration, breweries, and settler ambition. Discover how the Panic of 1893, Seattle's rise, and the infamous Fateful Fourth streetcar disaster shaped Tacoma's future.
The tour concludes on the University of Washington Tacoma campus, where historic warehouses and rail infrastructure have been transformed into one of the nation's most successful urban revitalization projects.

Meeting and pickup
Meet your guide on the Chihuly Bridge of Glass adjacent to the Museum of Glass. Your guide will be wearing a PNW Adventures & Tours name tag and will arrive approximately 5 minutes before the tour begins.
This tour concludes on the University of Washington Tacoma campus near the Prairie Line Trail. The ending location is approximately a 5-10 minute walk from the Museum of Glass and downtown Tacoma attractions.
