This tour traces the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from his childhood to his death. Visitors will discover his childhood house, his family, his family’s church, his resting place, as well as exhibits of his fight as a non-violent civil rights leader. In this tour, you will learn about the family, the stories, the people, and the circumstances that forged his character, his faith, his activism and political engagement. Come find out what makes MLK Jr. an American icon.
We will meet in front of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Your guide will be standing by with a sign.
Visitors will see where Dr. King’s father and grandfather served as pastors. Ebenezer Baptist Church is the church that built up MLK Jr. faith and shaped his ministry.
Visitors will walk along Sweet Auburn Avenue and see buildings belonging to the African American upper class in the fifties. The King family house on that street is where MLK Jr. spent his childhood and developed into the respected leader he was.
This is Dr. and Mrs. King resting place. Their tombs lay in a beautiful blue water pool across from the Eternal Flame. Freedom Hall is a museum dedicated to MLK Jr., Coretta King, Gandhi, and Rosa Park.
Visitors will see exhibits that include Dr. King’s fight for freedom, equality, social justice, basic civil and human rights. A true celebration of an American icon.
