Today’s hike is relatively effortless, with gradual inclines leading us through terraced farmlands and a magnificent Rhododendron forest. Along the way, we will encounter Australian camp, an exceptional vantage point offering awe-inspiring vistas of the majestic Annapurna mountain range. This particular portion of the trek is a haven for bird enthusiasts as it offers sightings of 488 bird species including the visually striking Himalayan Monal (Danphe), which serves as Nepal’s national bird.

The trail cuts through these deep woodlands, occasionally providing opportunities for short respites along the way. As we journey towards the Low Camp, we will traverse Rhododendron and Oak forests.. The temperate vegetation characterizes this section of the trek. As you progress towards High Camp, you will catch alluring of Annapurna’s majestic massifs looming distantly on the horizon. As you make your way towards High camp, you will begin to experience the impact of high altitude. It is important to be ready for traversing several narrow ridges on your journey. The final segment of the Mardi Himal trek begins bright and early with an awakening call. Our journey to the Mardi Himal Base Camp commences in the early hours, allowing us to witness the awe-inspiring sunrise. The climb up to the viewpoint lasts roughly 2 hours and presents its fair share of challenges. The trail is comprised of rocky terrain that can be slippery, requiring careful navigation along narrow paths lining rugged ridges on the mountain. As you surpass an elevation of 4500 meters, you will undoubtedly notice a significant change in altitude. Nonetheless, upon reaching the base camp, a heavenly atmosphere awaits as your reward.
The base camp treats you to a captivating panorama showcasing Annapurna’s majestic peaks. Many regard this location as providing one of their most unforgettable views during sunrise. After spending some time at the base camp, we make our descent towards Badal Danda for our lodging arrangements.
Route we took during our ascent. From Badal Danda, our path diverges towards Sidhing, guiding us through thick forests nestled at the base of Mt.Machhapuchhre. The descent becomes steeper and more arduous, with a trail that proves to be quite slippery in nature. After approximately five hours of hiking, we eventually arrive in Sidhing and proceed to embark on a jeep that will transport us back to Pokhara. Our lodging for the night awaits us at Lakeside in Pokhara.
