What to expect

Welcome to Kalimaji Village Stay, a hidden gem near Arusha that offers a rare glimpse into daily life with a modern Maasai family. Host Neema, a creative young woman, loves sharing her skills and may teach you traditional tailoring using a foot-operated sewing machine. Her sister Priska adds energy, mother Lea prepares herbal chai, and their father represents the local community. Evenings are filled with conversation, music and Swahili songs at the table. You stay in a cosy private room surrounded by flowers and lush plants. Meals and hot water are prepared over an open fire in the kitchen hut. A separate building hosts community events and women's groups. One highlight is the Mandazi Workshop at a nearby bakery where you learn to make these soft Swahili doughnuts and enjoy them fresh or as a snack. This peaceful homestay invites you to connect with Tanzanian life beyond the usual tourist path.
