Beginning with an Art Deco heritage tour, we will drive you through Napier City and soak up the beautifully preserved Art Deco architecture. Led by our knowledgeable local guide who will tell stories of Napier's rich heritage, the 1931 earthquake and how it shaped the Napier we see today.
Then we will arrive at the breathtaking Old National Tobacco Building, an architectural gem and home to the award-winning National Distillery Company. Soak up the beauty of the building and peek into the Gin Distillery, where the Gin you will taste has been lovingly crafted.
Enjoy guided tastings in this iconic heritage site and learn about the craft of small-batch distilling from passionate local experts.
NOTE: The Distillery is closed Mon-Wed. Bookings made on these days will result in another venue.
What's Included
Meeting and pickup
The driver guide will hold a sign with either your name or Mates Travel written on it. We will be at the meeting point 5-10 minutes before the tour starts.
Due to restrictions at Napier Port, we are not able to pick up at the port if the group is less than 6. If your booking is for 5 people or fewer, please take the free shuttle bus from the port and meet us at the National Aquarium.
This tour requires a minimum of 4 guests to operate. If minimum numbers are not met, the tour may be rescheduled or cancelled. In that case, we’ll contact you with alternative dates or offer a full refund.
The National Aquarium is located along Marine Parade in Napier. The driver guide will hold a sign with either your name or Mates Travel written on it. We will be at the meeting point 5-10 minutes before the tour starts. Cruise passengers, take the free shuttle bus from the port to the aquarium.
This tour ends at the Napier I-site, which is close to town for further exploration of Napier city. Cruise passenger, you will be able to take the free shuttle bus back to Napier Port from this location.
