Afterward, enjoy your own creations for lunch and sample the museum’s unique Traditional Chinese Medicine Wine. Continue to the Jinsha Site Museum, home to over 6,000 cultural relics that trace Sichuan’s 3,000-year culinary and cultural heritage. End the day at Kuanzhai Alley, where you can relax in a traditional teahouse and soak in the charming atmosphere of Chengdu’s old streets.
Take a high-speed train (2.5 hrs) from Chengdu to Chongqing, a vibrant city on the Yangtze River. Stroll through the lively Jiefangbei shopping district, the bustling heart of the city filled with modern malls, boutiques, and street snacks. In the evening, visit the iconic Hongya Cave, a multi-story complex of traditional stilt houses. When illuminated at night, it creates a dazzling scene over the riverperfect for photos and an unforgettable taste of Chongqing’s charm.
Begin with a visit to Kuixing Tower for panoramic city views before taking the famous Yangtze River Cableway across the water. Stop at Liziba Station, where the light rail dramatically passes straight through a residential building. Fly from Chongqing to Lhasa, Tibet’s capital set on the high plateau. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day free to rest and acclimatize to the altitude.
Take a day trip to Wulong Karst – Three Natural Bridges, a UNESCO-listed geological wonder of enormous stone arches set in a deep canyon. Continue to Fairy Mountain (Xian Nü Shan) – a peaceful highland grassland surrounded by misty forests and grazing horses.
Travel from Lhasa to Shigatse, stopping at the sacred Yamdrok Lake and the stunning Karola Glacier along the way, before spending the night in Tibet’s second-largest city.
Explore Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama, before returning to Lhasa along the scenic highway.
Fly from Lhasa back to Chengdu, with the rest of the day free to shop, explore, or simply relax at your own pace.
