This is not your typical food tour, but a real local exploration of the foods that make New York unique.
With a commitment to sustainability, we try all the foods you need to experience while in the city - pizza, bagels, Jewish deli food, and other dishes you might not have realized were so uniquely New York. Other treats on this tour might include a chopped cheese sandwich, black and white cookies, street meat, smoked salmon, and more.
Throughout, we'll learn about the origins of these dishes and explore some of the city's most exciting downtown neighborhoods from the East Village, Lower East Side, Chinatown, and Nolita.
We'll end with one of the city's most iconic desserts that will leave you stuffed and satiated with all the classics that you can now check off your list saying you've eaten New York!
We'll meet just outside of Tompkins Square Bagels on the west side of Avenue A between East 10th and East 11th Street in the East Village. Closest subway is the L train at First Avenue
Originally part of the Lower East Side, this funky off-beat neighborhood has been home to the punk and New Wave music scene, Eastern European immigrants, and lots of great late night food.
We pass by this park that holds lots of history and the key to this neighborhood's colorful history from the rough and tumble 70's and 80's when punk rockers and squatters over-ran the park to today where artists and young families walk their dog and people watch.
This neighborhood is one of the city's most storied, which once housed a large influx of immigrants from Eastern Europe and Latin America, and today is among Manhattan's most desirable. Both historic and modern food businesses help tell New York City's stories.
One of the city's fastest evolving neighborhoods, Chinatown continues to grow and change, while holding onto the traditions that have made this neighborhood and its food one of the city's most iconic.
Nolita is probably Manhattan's trendiest neighborhood and it is easy to see why. The newest generation wait in long lines for the hottest food trends and clothing pop-ups, while we discover one of the city's most iconic desserts.
This is the gateway from the Lower East Side into Brooklyn's trendiest neighborhood. We get a great view of the Williamsburg Bridge, along with the car and bike traffic it brings, as we cross Delancey Street
