What's Included
Meeting and pickup
You can easily reach the meeting point using public transportation (look for the "Piazza Risorgimento" stop). Once you arrive there, walk along Via di Porta Angelica and turn left just before the arch leading into St. Peter’s Square. Please, arrive 30 minutes early at the meeting point.
At the end of the tour, you will re-enter St. Peter’s Square, where the group will disband and guests will be free to continue exploring the city on their own.

1St. Peter's Basilica
The “St. Peter's Basilica and Tombs of the Popes” tour begins in the iconic St. Peter's Square, where your expert guide will introduce you to the history and significance of the basilica within the Catholic world. You’ll then enter the basilica through the grand central portal, immediately immersed in the splendor of Renaissance and Baroque architecture. Inside, you'll see Michelangelo's moving Pieta and Bernini's towering baldachin above the papal altar. Your guide will explain the meaning behind these masterpieces, along with the richly decorated chapels and mosaics that fill the space. The tour continues near the Altar of Confession, directly above St. Peter's tomb, with a breathtaking view of Michelangelo’s Dome. It continues in the Vatican Grottoes beneath the basilica, the resting place of many popes. Your guide will share the stories of these pontiffs, including St. Peter, the Church’s first pope, and the lasting importance of this sacred site for millions of believers.

2Cupola di San Pietro
Finally, you will ascend St. Peter's dome, designed by Michelangelo. The climb, which can be done partly by elevator and partly on foot, will take you to the top of the dome, from where you will enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Rome and the Vatican. Your guide will point out the main monuments visible from the top and offer insights into the eternal city.
