What makes this activity truly special is its flexibility and personalization. Instead of taking you to a fixed store, we offer a digital guide to Beijing’s diverse tea scene, with thousands of shops across styles — from minimalist modern spaces to centuries-old courtyards, international fusion tea shop to mystical-themed stores can do spells. You choose the ones that speak to you, and we’ll help you explore them — like a friend showing you their city, not a tour operator following a route or a fixed tea store.

Even after the tea ceremony, the experience doesn’t have to end. If you feel a connection with your local friends, you’re welcome to continue the afternoon together — stroll through a nearby hutong, visit a teahouse, or simply keep chatting over another cup.

This isn’t just a tea session — it’s an invitation to local friendship and cultural exchange, made unforgettable by the people you meet.

What to expect

Step into the world of Chinese tea with a local friend — not a tour guide, but someone who genuinely lives and breathes tea culture.
During this experience, you’ll watch an elegant Chinese tea ceremony, showcasing traditional techniques that combine visual beauty with deep cultural meaning.

You’ll learn about different types of Chinese tea — such as green, black, oolong, pu-erh, and floral blends. You’ll also have the chance to choose your preferred tea, try performing the ceremony yourself, and of course, sip and enjoy it.

We’ll carefully match you with a local tea lover based on your interests (shared in advance), so the experience feels more like meeting a friend than joining a tour. Your host will share their personal connection to tea and explain their understanding of how tea relates to Chinese philosophy, hospitality, and wellness.

Once you've booked, we’ll also send you a digital guide to local tea shops and a seasonal city guide we’ve created, full of curated tips to help you enjoy Beijing in your own style. Your local friend can take you to a tea shop you’re interested in — or to one of their personal favorites recommended by us.
