Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Ziz Valley – Merzouga (Sahara Desert)

Ifrane
After breakfast, depart Fes and begin your journey south through the Middle Atlas Mountains toward the Sahara Desert. The landscape gradually changes from the green surroundings of Fes to mountain scenery and eventually the dramatic desert landscapes of southeastern Morocco. Your first stop will be Ifrane, a beautiful mountain town known for its European-style architecture, clean streets, and alpine atmosphere. Often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” Ifrane is located in the Middle Atlas Mountains and is surrounded by forests and mountain scenery. You will have time to stop at the famous stone lion statue, one of the town’s most recognizable landmarks, before continuing toward the cedar forests.

Cedar Forest
From Ifrane, continue through the Middle Atlas Mountains to the famous cedar forests. Here, you will have the opportunity to see the Barbary macaques living in their natural environment. These native monkeys are one of the highlights of the region, and you can take some time to observe and photograph them before continuing your journey south.

Errachidia
Leaving the cedar forest, continue through the dramatic landscapes of the Middle and High Atlas Mountains toward Midelt, known as the “Apple Capital of Morocco.” Along the way, enjoy the changing scenery as the green mountain forests gradually give way to more rugged and arid landscapes. Continue through the mountains toward Errachidia, an important gateway to the Sahara and the surrounding desert regions. From Errachidia, continue toward the spectacular Ziz Valley. You will stop at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the valley, where the contrast between the lush palm-filled oasis and the surrounding rocky landscape creates one of the most impressive views of the journey. Take some time to enjoy the scenery and capture photos before continuing toward Merzouga.

Merzouga
Continue toward Merzouga and the magnificent Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Upon arrival, leave the vehicle and begin your camel ride into the Sahara Desert. Ride across the golden dunes while enjoying the peaceful desert scenery, with time to experience sandboarding along the way. Continue by camel toward the desert camp and stop on the dunes to watch the spectacular sunset over the Sahara. After sunset, continue to your luxury desert camp, where you will check into your private luxury tent with comfortable accommodation and an ensuite bathroom. After settling in, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner followed by an evening around the campfire with local music and a traditional drums show beneath the desert sky. Spend the night in your luxury tent surrounded by the dunes of the Sahara Desert.

Day 4
Merzouga Sahara Desert – Rissani – Erfoud – Todgha gorge – Boumalne Dades

Rissani
After breakfast, leave the Sahara Desert and begin your journey west toward the Dades Valley, traveling through the desert landscapes and oasis towns of southeastern Morocco. Your first stop will be Rissani, a historic town and important trading center in the region. If your visit falls on a market day, you will have the opportunity to explore the traditional Rissani market, where local people come to buy and sell fresh produce, livestock, spices, clothing, and other everyday goods. The market offers an authentic look at local life and the traditional trading culture of the area.

Erfoud
Continue from Rissani to Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils and marble products. Along the way, you can learn more about the region’s rich geological history. You will have the option to visit a local fossil workshop, where you can see how fossils found in the surrounding area are carefully cut, polished, and transformed into decorative pieces, tables, and other handcrafted products.

Todra Gorge
From Erfoud, continue toward the dramatic Todgha Gorges, passing through the changing landscapes of the High Atlas foothills and the palm-filled oases of the Todgha Valley. Upon arrival, take a walk through the spectacular canyon, where towering limestone cliffs rise on both sides of the narrow gorge. Enjoy the scenery and have time to take photos before continuing your journey through the valley.

Boumalne Dades
After visiting Todgha Gorges, continue toward Boumalne Dades and the Dades Valley. The road takes you through beautiful landscapes of palm groves, rocky mountains, and traditional Berber villages. Upon arrival in the Dades Valley, check into your hotel or riad and enjoy a relaxing evening surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the valley.

Boumaln Dades – Rose Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait ben haddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech

El Kelaa M'gouna
After breakfast, leave the Dades Valley and begin your final day of the journey toward Marrakech, traveling through the beautiful landscapes of southern Morocco. Your first stop will be the Valley of Roses, a beautiful area known for its rose cultivation and traditional products made from locally grown roses. Depending on the season, you may see the surrounding fields filled with roses and have the opportunity to discover local products such as rose water, oils, and cosmetics.

Continue from the Rose Valley toward Ouarzazate, passing through the scenic Skoura Oasis. Surrounded by palm groves and traditional kasbahs, Skoura offers a beautiful contrast between the green oasis and the surrounding arid landscapes. Continue to Ouarzazate, often known as the “Hollywood of Morocco” because of its long connection with the film industry, with optional visit to the atlas film studios. You will have time to enjoy the city before continuing toward Ait Ben Haddou.

Ait Ben Haddou
From Ouarzazate, continue to the famous Ait Ben Haddou Ksar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks. Take time to admire the historic earthen architecture and walk through the old ksar, with its narrow pathways, traditional buildings, and impressive views over the surrounding landscape.

Atlas Mountains View
After visiting Ait Ben Haddou, continue toward the High Atlas Mountains. The road climbs through spectacular mountain scenery toward the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, reaching an elevation of approximately 2,260 meters. Along the way, enjoy several scenic viewpoints and photo stops overlooking the valleys and mountains.

Marrakech
Continue crossing the High Atlas Mountains and descend toward Marrakech. As the landscape changes from the rugged mountains to the plains surrounding Marrakech, your journey gradually comes to an end.
