Learn about life at the University today. Topics will include: the Oxford tuition system; student life in an Oxford college; the differences between the colleges and their specialities; how you apply to Oxford and how easy is it to get a place at the University?
See several of the Oxford Colleges in the city centre. Whenever possible, the tour will usually include a visit inside one college, such as Exeter College, founded in 1314, St John's College, founded in 1555, or All Souls College, founded in 1438. If possible the visit will include a college chapel, one or two quadrangles and the college garden.
We meet near the Italiamo Cafe on Broad Street, near the red telephone box.
We often finish at the Radcliffe Camera, but we sometimes end the tour in a different place in central Oxford, depending on the route we decide to take.
Your guide will meet you here and will give you an introduction to the tour.
See (from the outside) the Sheldonian Theatre, the university's ceremonial building. Your guide will explain how the Sheldonian Theatre is used by the University for ceremonies and events.
See (from the outside) the world famous Bodleian library. Your guide will tell you how the library works today and about how it was founded by Thomas Bodley.

The tour usually visits the University Church.
Usually on afternoon tours it is possible to visit All Souls College, founded in 1438. It is possible to visit the chapel and 2 quadrangles of the college. Alternatively the tour may visit another college such as Lincoln College, Exeter College or St John's College.
The tour usually stops outside Oriel College (founded in 1326) where we are able to see the first quad. We carry on down Merton Street, famous from its use in many films.
The tour usually includes Merton Street, one of Oxford's most beautiful streets and stops outside Merton College, one of Oxford's oldest colleges. Learn about J.R.R.Tolkien who was professor of English at Merton College, and published The Lord of the Rings while he was working here.
