Highlights include the historic waterfront precinct of Salamanca Place, with its Georgian sandstone buildings and lively atmosphere, and a scenic drive past Battery Point, one of Hobart’s oldest neighborhoods, known for its charming cottages and narrow lanes. You'll also see the bustling Constitution Dock, where fishing boats and yachts line the harbor, and take in panoramic views of the River Derwent. We’ll pass by the grand Parliament House and the modern waterfront developments, blending old and new. The tour includes a short walk through the beautiful Cascade Gardens, where we’ll search the Hobart Rivulet for the elusive resident platypus in its natural habitat. Enjoy informative commentary throughout, rich with stories of Hobart’s history, convict roots, and natural wonders. A perfect introduction to this picturesque city!
Richmond is a picturesque historic village located just 25 km from Hobart in the scenic Coal River Valley. Steeped in colonial history, the town is home to some of Australia’s oldest and most significant heritage sites. Highlights include the famous Richmond Bridge, built by convicts in 1825 and still in use today, as well as the Richmond Gaol, one of the country’s oldest intact prisons offering a glimpse into early colonial life. Wandering the village, you’ll find beautifully preserved Georgian buildings, antique shops, galleries, cafes, and charming cottages. Richmond is a step back in time.
Puddleduck Vineyard is a boutique, family-owned winery nestled in the heart of the Coal River Valley. Known for its warm hospitality and scenic setting, the vineyard produces a range of premium Tasmanian wines using 100% estate-grown fruit. The relaxed atmosphere, picturesque duck-dotted dam, and welcoming cellar door make it a favourite with visitors. This is also our lunch destination, where you can enjoy local produce and wine in a tranquil vineyard setting—perfect for unwinding and soaking up the beauty of the region.
On our return to Hobart, we'll stop at Rosny Hill Lookout, offering a perfect opportunity to capture stunning photos of the cruise ship docked at the terminal. The lookout's elevated position provides a unique perspective of the vessel against the backdrop of the city and the river, making it an ideal spot for memorable photographs.
