1Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayanta)
Admire the exterior of the iconic Giant Wild Goose Pagoda(DaYan Pagoda), originally built in 652 AD during the Tang Dynasty to house Buddhist scriptures brought back from India by the famous monk Xuanzang. Highlights: - The story of Xuanzang and his legendary Silk Road pilgrimage - The role of Xi'an (Chang'an) as the cosmopolitan capital of the Tang Dynasty - The architectural significance of the pagoda Viewing the famous North Square fountain area Please note: This tour includes exterior visits only. 2Daci'en Temple
Continue to the historic Da Ci'en Temple, one of Xi'an's most important Buddhist temples and the original home of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda. Built in 648 AD by Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty in honor of his mother, the temple became a major center for Buddhist translation and scholarship under the guidance of Xuanzang.
