Our English-speaking tour guide will be waiting in the arrivals area with a sign displaying your name for easy identification. We kindly request you to have your identification readily available. We monitor flight schedules for any delays to ensure a prompt pickup and a seamless transition to your Rwandan adventure. If you prefer not to be picked up at the airport, please clearly specify your desired pickup location within Kigali when making your booking. This could be your hotel, a specific landmark, or another agreed-upon address. Please also provide a preferred pickup time so our guide can meet you promptly. This option is ideal for travelers who have already arrived in Kigali or have specific arrangements for their initial arrival.
For travelers who do not require pickup, our primary meeting point is the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. Please plan to arrive at the memorial's main entrance by 8:30 AM on Day 1 of your safari. Our English-speaking tour guide, wearing a Gorilla Hub Safaris labelled shirt, will be waiting.
At 8:30 am, you will be picked up by an English-speaking tour guide from your hotel who will give a short briefing, visit Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, and later drive to the eastern part of Rwanda via beautiful landscapes. Farmlands, local markets, and communities to Akagera National Park, home to the African Big 5 and a medley of wildlife, with an en route Lunch on the way.
Upon arrival, an exhilarating afternoon game drive offers sightings of buffalo, antelopes, warthogs, elephants, and zebras. As dusk falls, experience a unique night game drive to spot elusive carnivores like lions and leopards, accompanied by stunning sunset views. Overnight at Akagera Game Lodge.
Your Day 2 in Akagera starts at 7:00 AM with a sunrise boat trip on Lake Ihema (1.5 hours). Witness over 50 hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, and zebras. From 9:00 AM, embark on an extensive full game drive through Akagera's diverse African savannah, hills, and jungle. Spot the African Big 5 (lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos) alongside giraffes, zebras, hippos, and numerous other mammals. The park boasts scenic landscapes with rolling hills, swamps, and water bodies. It's a birdwatcher's paradise with over 500 species, including rare ones like the shoebill stork. Akagera offers a rich blend of activities for all nature and wildlife enthusiasts. Around 4:00 PM, you'll exit the park for your drive back to Kigali, arriving around 6:15 PM for drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
