What to expect

"One-Day Hiking Adventure to Mt. Kawanori (Intermediate Level, 8-Hour Walk)
Explore the Wilderness on Tokyo’s Outskirts with an English-Speaking Guide"

The adventure begins at 6:00 a.m. from Shinjuku Station, taking public transportation (train and bus) to avoid traffic congestion. You'll return to Shinjuku by 7:00 p.m (on safe side).

After meeting at Shinjuku, a major transportation hub in central Tokyo, we’ll board a rapid train to JR Okutama Station, followed by a local bus to the trailhead. From there, we’ll hike for approx. 4 hours through lush gorges to the summit of Mt. Kawanori, stopping by Tokyo’s tallest waterfall, the stunning Hyakuhiro Falls.
While the summit itself offers modest views, the real allure of Mt. Kawanori lies in its vibrant gorges and mossy cascades that lead you upward through pristine hardwood forests.

The descent takes another 4 hours, ending at JR Hatonosu Station. The return journey to Shinjuku takes around 90 minutes.

This full-day hike is physically demanding, but it rewards you with a deep sense of accomplishment—along with a pleasant touch of muscle soreness!
