Yokohama is often an area that is left unexplored by many tourists. When guiding in Tokyo, people would always ask me what my number one recommendation would be if they had a free day. My suggestion would always be, go explore Yokohama, specifically Minato Mirai and Sakuragicho!
In my opinion, it is the most beautiful area in Kanto!
Meet in front of the red brick facade, in front of the 東京 (Tokyo) sign.
I will meet you in front of the red brick facade of Tokyo station (in front of the 東京 Tokyo sign). This side of Tokyo station was built in the Meiji era and is one of the most iconic buildings in Tokyo. Afterwards, we will board a train and head to Yokohama!
This is one of the premier shopping locations in The Kanto area. There are a plethora of shops and restaurants here and it is actually known as a very popular date spot at night. We will be going to the coffee shop that I think is #1 in Japan! I have been to Italy and Melbourne and this spot is definitely on par!
We will eat at a very local udon restaurant in this area. This is personally, one of my favourite udon shops in Japan.
Walk along the sea side by this amazing Meiji Era red brick Warehouse. This warehouse was crucial to the city of Yokohama in the mid 1800's, as it served as a major warehouse for goods coming from overseas. There are a plethora of amazing local artizan shops inside the red brick warehouse, should customers want to see inside.
A perfect ending point! This is a cruise ship terminal and the name means 'The whales back' in english (due to the unusual shape of the terminal). This is a great view point and on a nice, clear sunny day, nothing will beat this view!
