Step into rural Japan and experience life at a 200-year-old countryside home. This immersive tour begins at JR Kabe Station, followed by a scenic one-hour bus ride through peaceful landscapes. After a short walk, you'll arrive at a traditional Japanese house surrounded by a moss-covered garden—a quiet retreat far from the noise of the city. Join your local host for a hands-on cooking experience using fresh vegetables from the garden, along with locally sourced pork or beef. Together, you'll prepare and enjoy a warm, home-style lunch in a setting that feels like visiting family in the countryside. Whether you're looking to slow down, connect with local life, or simply enjoy a delicious meal in good company, this experience offers a heartfelt taste of Japan’s rural charm.
Come explore the gentle world of moss in our cozy garden. In Japan, moss isn’t just a plant—it’s part of the culture. Did you know Japan has around 1,800 types of moss? That’s nearly one-tenth of all the moss in the world! Moss grows slowly, but over time it creates soft, green carpets that feel like nature’s magic. How many kinds can you spot in our garden? Let’s take a look together.
How about a short walk around the neighborhood? We can follow the pretty river nearby—it’s a peaceful spot. Or, if you like, there’s a forest just behind the house where we can enjoy a quiet walk among the trees.
I’ll prepare a bowl of matcha just for you. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy it in the moss garden—or inside the tatami room if you prefer. Your host will take great care in preparing everything with sincerity and attention to detail. This is a completely private tea ceremony, so even if it’s your first time, don’t worry. Just relax and enjoy the moment with a warm cup of tea. After the tea celemony, it's your time to leave here. I will see you off at the bus stop.
