Breakfast at the lodge and check out, meet your private Safari Guide and drive to Akagera National Park (2.5 hours) Stopovers for tea and coffee en route. On arrival enjoy a game drive in Akagera National Park. Explore this transformed park managed by Africa Parks, and witness the remarkable recovery of wildlife populations since the 1994 genocide you will spot an array of species, including lions, black rhinos, elephants, and giraffes Lunch at Akagera Game Lodge and embark on an afternoon boat trip on Lake Ihema, cruise along the lake's shores and catch sight of hippos, crocodiles, and animals quenching their thirst and drive back to Kigali
This morning, after breakfast, embark on a city tour of Kigali, visiting the genocide memorial site, the Gisozi Genocide Memorial center. The Kigali Memorial exists is a permanent memorial to those who fell victim to the genocide in 1994. Here you will be able to visit the three permanent exhibitions, the largest of which documents the genocide and pay tribute to the victims of the genocide. After the city tour we’ll embark on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park (approx. 2.5 hours total journey time), upon arrival in Volcanoes National Park, home to the majestic mountain gorillas. In the afternoon, visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla fund located just outside the Volcanoes National Park- to learn about the pioneering conservation work of Dr. Fossey and the ongoing efforts of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Relax over dinner and overnight.
Begin the day with an early breakfast, then head to the Volcanoes National Park offices by 7:00 AM. You'll be assigned to a gorilla tracking group and receive a comprehensive briefing from your expert trackers. Next, drive to the trailhead and embark on your thrilling trek. Once you encounter the majestic gorillas, spend a magical hour observing these incredible creatures up close. Return to the base, where your driver will be waiting to transport you back to your lodge for lunch and a massage. In the afternoon, visit the Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village (formerly known as the Ex-Poacher's Village), where you'll gain insight into traditional Rwandan practices, including fire-making, archery, medicine, and vibrant cultural dances.
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before checking out. Transfer to Kigali on arrival proceed to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight to Entebbe on ET 334, with drop-off scheduled for 1300 hrs, on arrival you will be met by your private guide and transferred to Kampala
After breakfast transfer to the Equator line in Uganda, a popular tourist attraction located in Kayabwe, Mpigi District. Visitors can stand with one foot in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the Southern Hemisphere, marking a unique experience. This is a common stop for those traveling to or from western Uganda, offering a chance to take memorable photos and experience the Equator. Have lunch at the Equator line and return to Kampala
After breakfast transfer to Entebbe Botanical Gardens, which border the shore of Lake Victoria, home to an impressive collection of indigenous forest, shrubs and plants. The gardens are also home to tree squirrels and velvet and black-and-white colombus monkeys. Visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, commonly misconceived to be a zoo, but actually an animal orphanage that is home to wild animals which have been rehabilitated but cannot be returned to the wild. It's a good place to see some rare and endangered species like black rhino, giant forest hog, chimpanzees, grey-cheeked mangabeys, lion, shoebill and serval. End the day with a sunset cruise a sunset cruise on Lake Victoria starts at 5pm from Entebbe at the water front club beach by the zoo (UWEC), at the pier. Aboard with drinks and snacks and sail at leisure with sites of Entebbe, view fishing villages built on the rocks, birds, the boat goes up to the Equator sign.
