Inspired by the nightly patrols once made by Williamsburg’s watchmen, this 90-minute experience follows the streets they would have walked while the rest of the town slept. Along the way, your Ghost City Tours Ambassador will share stories of old courthouses, churchyards, colonial homes, revolutionary tension, forgotten patients, guarded gunpowder, and jail cells that were never meant to be comfortable.
Guests will hear haunted history connected to the Colonial Williamsburg Courthouse, Bruton Parish Church, George Wythe House, Peyton Randolph House, Public Hospital Museum, Magazine Green, and Public Gaol. Each stop connects real Williamsburg history with the legends and reported hauntings that followed.

1Colonial Williamsburg Capitol Building
Begin at the Colonial Williamsburg Courthouse, the center of law and order in a town that became much quieter after dark. Guests will hear how the courthouse handled disputes, debts, licenses, and criminal accusations, while later reports describe movement in empty rooms, shifting doors, and the uneasy feeling that someone has passed just behind you.

2Bruton Parish Episcopal Church
Bruton Parish Church has stood at the heart of Williamsburg for more than three centuries, marking baptisms, weddings, funerals, and burials for generations of residents. This stop explores the churchyard’s worn stones, colonial history, and local legends of the Gray Lady, soft footsteps, and the feeling that some visitors never fully left the grounds.

3Peyton Randolph House
The Peyton Randolph House is one of Williamsburg’s most famous haunted residences, known for a long list of reported encounters. Guests will hear stories of footsteps overhead, children running across upper floors, and a woman seen standing in an upstairs window before fading back into the darkness.

The Public Gaol served as Williamsburg’s jail for more than a century, holding thieves, debtors, counterfeiters, pirates, prisoners of war, and people awaiting trial. This final stop shares stories of harsh confinement, heavy footsteps in empty corridors, slamming doors, cold spots, and faces said to appear in windows after dark.
