Kenrokuen is one of Japan’s 3 most beautiful gardens and a highlight of any visit to Kanazawa. The garden is designed for walking, with gently winding paths that lead past ponds, bridges, stone lanterns, and carefully maintained trees. Each season brings a different look, from fresh greenery in spring to snowy scenery in winter, making it enjoyable year-round.
Located beside Kenrokuen, Kanazawa Castle has long been a symbol of the city. Once home to the powerful Maeda clan, the castle grounds reflect Kanazawa’s importance during the samurai period. Today, visitors can walk through the spacious grounds, see the impressive stone walls, and explore reconstructed buildings that showcase traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
Higashi Chaya is one of Kanazawa’s best-preserved historic districts. The area is known for its rows of wooden teahouses that date back to the Edo period, when geisha entertained guests here. Now, many of these buildings have been turned into cafes, sweet shops, and craft shops, making it a pleasant place to stroll and experience the city’s traditional atmosphere.
